03 November 2010, Wednesday.

The reaction of Turkmen political circles and the Turkmen nation regarding the changing of the names of Turkmen localities has brought results. Following fierce reactions to changing the names of Turkmen localities and status of limitations running out, the commission which had been enforcing Constitutional Law Article 140 withdrew the relevant letter and cancelled the implementation.

As the status of limitations for Constitutional Law article 140 ran out, the enforcement commission of this article cancelled the decision to change the names of Turkmen localities a short while ago. Changing the names of the Kirkuk environs and especially the name of Turkmen Altunköprü district brought fierce objections from the Turkmen political circles. Following the objections, the commission generalized and withdrew its last letter and manifested the decision as cancelled.

A source from the commission reported that a mission from one of the commission branch office had visited the board in Baghdad and convened with the Head of the Commission Rait Fehmi and the reactions regarding the last decision were discussed. The same source said that after the meeting the head of the Commission Rait Fehmi sent a letter to Kirkuk Governor's Office to request the cancellation of the letter regarding changing the names of Turkmen localities as well as the relevant decision.

Rait Fehmi, the head of the implementation commission for constitutional law article 140 which reached its status of limitations a short while ago, published a circular regarding changing the names of some Turkmen administration regions connected to Kirkuk.

Following the publication of this decision circular, lead by the Kirkuk and parliamentary members, all the Turkmen MP's in parliament reacted to the contents of the circular. In addition to the political circles, the people of Kirkuk and Altunköprü did not spare their feelings.

Turkmen members of parliament Erşet Salihi and Hasan özmen visited the Commission head Rait Fehmi in order to express the reaction of the Turkmen nation.
