LATAKIA (AA) - August 2, 2012 - Anadolu Agency (AA) team has
entered the Turkmen villages that were shelled by al-Assad's Army in Latakia, Syria.
Following the clashes which have been continuing between Syrian
and Free Syrian
Army in Latakia for
days, the opponents gained the control of the Turkmen villages completely in Latakia.
There are around 70 Turkmen villages in the region, close to Turkey borderline.
Colonel Muhammed Ivad of Free Syrian Army told AA on Thursday that the opposition groups seized the control of the region in the northern Latakia.
Ivad stated that during the clashes a high ranking commander with al-Assad's army was killed.
